![]() ![]() A simple call or email stating “I'm really backed up or I won't be able to get to them until x, would you like to pick them up?” would have been nice. ![]() During the 2 visits to the shop prior to picking up the watches, the clock repair guy was very apologetic and took all 4 watches out of the storage case and physically placed them on the watchmaker's bench stating “I'll have him look at them and call you.” I realize this is a one man operation and that it's a precise and time consuming specialty, but the lack of customer service was astounding. No work had been done and I never did meet or speak with the watchmaker. ![]() After stopping back by the shop 4 times, leaving several phon e messages and attempting to contact them through their website, I picked all 4 watches up last week (one week shy of 6 months). I was told it would likely be 3-4 months to complete everything and I would be contacted with estimates. When I dropped them off, the watchmaker wasn't there and I discussed the repairs with the clock repair guy. One watch simply needed the battery replaced, one needed the stem switched out (I provided the replacement) and the other were non-functioning automatics that needed diagnosis and repair. Save yourself the frustration and send your timepieces elsewhere. As far as quality of work, I cannot speak to this facet of their business as I never was able to bear witness to their capabilities. I am extremely frustrated with the lack of communication and service. I understand that they have a large backlog and covid has not done any favors for anyone, but a small amount of communication would go a long way! I can’t in good conscience recommend this place to anyone save people who have over 10 months to wait for their watch to be serviced. After sorting through several time-pieces, he found mine and it had not been touched. I went back to their shop to see where my watch was in the service process. 10/8/21 – I had not received any follow up, phone calls, any correspondence from haute horologist. The clock guy said the watch guy would call me when he got back. I Left him my order number and call back number. 8/13/21 – I called in and left a voicemail that went unreturned 9/7/21 – I called in again and spoke with the clock guy, he said said watch guy has some things going on and he would be in this afternoon. 6/29/21 – I called back to ensure they had worked through the back-log, they asked that I drop it off at the end of July 8/3/21 – I went back to the shop and dropped off watch again with the clock guy who said that the watch guy would call me. My request was granted and I picked up my watch. ![]() I asked if I could pick it up while they work through the back-log and then come back to drop it off in July. Below is a timeline of the events that proceeded my initial meeting: 1/12/21 - Dropped off watch with watch maker February ‘21 – I called in to follow up on my watch's progress and was told that they were extremely busy and that they wouldn’t be able to get to my watch until July. He took my watch, gave me a ticket, and I was on my way. He informed me that the watch repairman was not in but he has experience with Breitling, Tag Heuer, Patek Phillipe, and my watch would be in good hands. I have a Panerai wrist watch that needed a general service so I took it in and met with the clock guy (not the watch guy), who was very nice, and explained the issues with the watch. The long: I went to Haute Horologist based on the reviews I found online. While there are few places to have fine time-pieces serviced in the treasure valley, based on my experience, I would suggest anyone requiring service to skip haute horologist and seek accommodations elsewhere. For a place that specializes in time pieces, they have yet to grasp the concept of time or even a remote sense of urgency. The short: I dropped off my watch in January 2021, I picked it up on October 8th 2021 (10 months later) and nothing had been done to my watch. ![]()
